How about some fishtail braid nail art?

Hello everyone! I'm so happy this week because I re-attempted the fishtail braid nail art and this time it was successful! Well, it looks quite successful to me :) I did it as an accent nail again so that even if it isn't too perfect, as a whole, the mani will still look quite pretty which I think turned out as I hoped.

Let's get right to the photos! I used a Faceshop light pastel blue polish as a base. I can't remember the code so... I'll dig out the bottle and edit this next time.

Yay! Look at the accent nail! I thought that was quite good, considering last week's failed attempt that I just painted over in the end haha. I know it's far from perfect like my lines could be neater and the braids smaller so that it looks more intricate but I hope you guys like my first attempt :) I'm gonna do more accent nails, I really love the way they look!

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 7 - Black and White

Hello ladies! I think I'm about to finally catch up with the 31 Day Challenge. This is good news because it means I can show you all more than just manis that are for the challenge. I only have enough time each week nowadays to paint my nails up to 2-3 times so I have to plan early what I want to paint on. I should stop working so much huh? :( But the pay allows me to buy more nail polishes so I'm torn between working lesser or not being able to satisfy my nail polish desires. I have so many new polishes on my wishlist, especially indie polishes! I've been seeing a lot of swatches around lately and I'm tempted to get myself a few. The only problem is that I've to get them online and I'm not completely sure but Singapore has some strange shipping restrictions on nail polish from Europe and USA.

Okay, on to my Black and White themed mani :) I did a saran wrap mani. I'm sorry, it looks so messy around. I totally didn't realise it required clean-up till I viewed these photos on my computer and by that time, it was a bit too late. I hope you can ignore the mess! I really love how this turned out though!

The following photos are with top coat. I think I like the more marblelised look it has.

My weekend mani

I have a simple weekend mani today! I was aiming to do an accent french braid nail but I totally failed at that so I just used my black polish that was supposed to be part of the accent nail to cover the mess I made.

Anyone have any good french braid tutorials to recommend? Feel free to attach links if you know of any good ones! :)

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 6 - Violet

Hey ladies! I'm not sure exactly what colour violet is but I assume my new nail polish Essie Splash of Grenadine is similar! I just desperately wanted to try this polish on and I figured I might as well do a full mani for this shade :)

Finally, on to the full mani. I really really love this colour! It's such a gorgeous, soft shade. And the formula was perfect too. I used to dislike Essie because of their small brush but I have come to realise that it doesn't actually make painting that much harder. And Essie has wonderful and smooth formulas plus a wide range of colours. I am now going to start building up my Essie collection ^^

I added dots! Using OPI My Very First Knockwurst and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 5 - Blue

Hey ladies! This is gonna be a quick post just to show that I'm making progress on my Extra Relaxed Challenge. Today's manicure features the colour blue. I've been wanting to use China Glaze For Audrey for a French mani look and I thought this would be perfect for today. And because I thought it looked a little dull, I freehanded silver lines (if I can even call them lines LOL) I must have used a wrong brush or polish because it looks like a mess of silver polish :/ It looks decent from far so I guess it wasn't a complete failure.

Polish Haul Saturday #5

Yay! So it's Saturday once again and I finally have new polish to show! I wasn't intending to buy polish but this pretty shade caught my eye while I was at Watsons. FYI, Watsons is an Asian personal care store brand so it's basically a beauty store that offers common brands. And sometimes, I can find hidden treasure like cheap nail polish that is actually of decent quality. I've never actually heard of the brand Golden Rose but I was attracted by the colour and 'one step maxi brush'. So I kinda reviewed this product which I normally don't do for my Polish Haul Saturdays but I figured since I had only one polish and I couldn't wait to try it, I might as well review it. Okay, let's move on to the photos :)

This polish doesn't have a name. There might be a name code or something but there were a lot of numbers and alphabets on the label and I couldn't figure out if any of them was it's 'name'. Maybe when I get more shades from this brand then I'll be able to figure it out! My excuse to shop more hehe ;)

Anyway, this shade is teal but it was hard to capture so my photos make the colour look more blue than it really is :/

I used 2 coats for these photos. The 'one step maxi brush' is a LIE. The brush was great! It was fat, which I like, because I get to use fewer strokes so there's less chance of messing up. The formula required at least 2 coats for full coverage unless I used one thick coat which would make spreading the polish tough. The colour is gorgeous though! I would totally wear it for a whole week if I could. However, upon removal, I found out that it stains :( And I only wore the polish for a couple of hours. I guess that might also be because I don't use base coat, I haven't picked up the habit of using a base coat yet. I will definitely try this again with a base coat and let's hope the results are better :)

Easy Glitter Removal

Today, I have my weekend nails to show you. I was in the glitter mood last weekend so I decided to do something simple and go with China Glaze I Herd That. I should have used another layer or two of top coat because it wasn't as shiny and glossy as I would have liked it. It is a gorgeous glitter though!

One of the reasons why I decided to do glitter was also because I wanted to try using the glue base coat which makes glitter removal a breeze since all you have to do is peel it off. True to what many bloggers believe, it does make glitter removal so much easier! Most of the glitter coats came off in one piece and I was really amazed. However, it doesn't last as long as I would have liked :( Within a day, at least one or two nails chipped and the polish on my right thumb nail totally disappeared. I didn't even know it fell off LOL. Oh well, but it is a good way to wear glitter and not have to worry about how much acetone and scrubbing it will require to remove the glitter.

Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge - Day 4 - Green

Hello ladies! Trying something new today for my Extra Relaxed 31 Day Challenge along with the theme of green nails. I'm trying accent nails! I've seen my nail bloggers who do accent nails almost daily and I'm always in love with their manis and I've finally gotten round to trying my hand at one of those so yay :) The green polish used is China Glaze Four Leaf Clover. It was a slightly tough colour to photograph.

My first photo was taken in natural light and I think my camera refused to focus so it's a little blurry. This was what I started with.

And when the silver polish dried, I stuck chevron stickers and painted black polish over it. And the final result is below :)

I'm super proud of it! It looks gorgeous and it's my first accent nail manicure. It's definitely encouraging me to do more of these and come up with more creative ideas.

What do you guys think of this? Have you tried accent nails before?

Belated Easter Nails

Right. So Easter just passed and I totally forgot I actually had a rather Easter-ish mani to show you guys. I didn't plan to have one but I just happened to have a pastel mani that suits Easter. It's nothing fancy but I figured I should just post it anyway!

So here are my Easter Polka dots!

My dots aren't all the same size unfortunately! I definitely need more practice with my dotting tool! But I enjoyed wearing this, I thought it was rather cute and appropriate for Easter :)
